Delay in reviews of Family Income Supplement highlighted.

A Tipperary Deputy has called on the Government to immediately address delays in processing reviews for the Family Income Supplement.

Michael Lowry has claimed in the Dail that currently a review of these applications is taking 22 weeks, with many families struggling as a result.

In response Joan Burton argued that the waiting time was averaging at 16 weeks and said that in many cases, this is due to families applying too late.

She appealed for families in receipt of the payment to apply a month before their expiry date, in order to ensure their review is carried out quickly.
