The village of Cloughjordan is being held back by the failure of Uisce Éireann to deliver on much needed infrastructure.
That was the message delivered to the Taoiseach in the Dáil this week by Deputy Ryan O’Meara.
The Fianna Fáil representative says the problems in Cloughjordan is mirrored in towns and villages not just in Tipperary but across the country.
“As a result of a lack of capacity we have a DPI infrastructure in Cloughjordan for the Townsfields housing estate that cannot be connected 17 years later to the mains system. We have new social housing cannot be built – over 30 people on social housing lists in this small village alone. No new houses can built there – no new private housing can be built because of a lack of capacity in the plant.
“We also have the Eco Village in Cloughjordan – which is known nationally and internationally – with dozens of serviced sites none of which can be sold or built upon because of a lack of capacity in the system.”
