The cut in funding for a vital community project will have a significant impact on a number of towns in South Tipperary.

That was the view expressed at this weeks meeting of South Tipperary County Council by Independent Councillor Darren Ryan.

He highlighted the fact that the RAPID Programme had been hit in Decembers Budget but little was known about the cuts until recently.

Carrick on Suir, Tipperary Town and parts of Clonmel come under the scheme which aims to revitalise areas by planning, investment and development.

Councillor Ryan says Minister Phil Hogan may think the funding cut is of little consequence but that is not the case.
