CSO figures show male criminals more likely to reoffend

New CSO figures show that 70 per cent of women are unlikely to get in trouble with the law a second time.

But re-offending rates for both sexes drop as people get older.

Public order offences are the most common reasons for conviction, with public order and theft being the most common offences on reconviction.

The study, which focused on a group of criminals from 2010,  also found that almost two-thirds were unlikely to re-offend if they were given community service or probation rather than being jailed.
