Dozens of homes and businesses were damaged during the severe weather…while a large number of roads had to be shut due to flood waters.
The response of the local authority to the crisis was criticised at yesterday's meeting of the local authority where some councillors expressed frustration at the lack of communication with elected members during the event.
Issues with the emergency phone line, a lack of information being filtered through to councillors and staffing levels during the recent flooding were highlighted during the meeting as needing improvement.
Carrick on Suir was one of worst affected areas during the storms….Independent Councillor Kieran Bourke says the failure of the sewerage pumps during the storm is a major cause of concern.
Several routes across North Tipperary were also damaged during the weather; the N65 at Carrigahorrig has been shut since the beginning of December and is not expected to reopen for at least another month…
