Criticism of Bord na Mona’s stance on Littleton factory

Bord na Mona has given hollow answers to the community’s concerns about the closure of their Littleton briquette factory.

That’s according to Councillor John Hogan, who has criticised the company for it’s lack of engagement with the community.

Hogan has lived alongside their land for 18 years, and says they have never interacted with him.

The company is to consider setting up a liaison group with the council to address issues in the aftermath of the shut down – such as security, illegal dumping and welfare of the workers.

Although the Fianna Fail Councillor commended Bord na Mona for meeting with the authority, he says discussions need to continue over the coming months.
