A number of drug seizures and discoveries have been made in Tipperary of late.
Sgt Carol O’Leary says Gardaí from the Task Force were on patrol in Cahir recently when a man came to their attention.
“They were on Abbey Street in Cahir when they saw a male acting suspiciously. They stopped the patrol car and called for him to stop – he ran, but as he ran he threw large amount of cannabis onto the kerb. He did make good his escape on that occasion but the crew from the Task Force picked up the bag worth about €2,000 and he has been identified and will be before the courts.”
Meanwhile another man is facing a possible court appearance following a drug seizure in North Tipp.
Sgt O’Leary says a quantity of cash and drugs were recovered from a house in Newport recently.
“The drugs unit are still out there and we’re still having seizures left, right and centre – not all are reported. But in relation to this one a house in Newport was searched and on that occasion over €3,000 worth of suspected cannabis seized with a large amount of cash that’s possibly the proceeds of crime. That gentleman was arrested and a file is being prepared for the DPP for directions.”
