Gardai in Clonmel say a fire at the home of an elderly woman was started deliberately.
The pensioner escaped injury in the incident which was reported by a passing motorist at half past twelve on Monday night.
Gardaí say an accelerant was used on the front door however the fire was put out very quickly once emergency services arrived at the scene on the Heywood road.
Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area is being asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station.
Inspector James White has told Tipp FM news that they don’t have any motive for this seemingly random attack.
