Eoin Felix O'Neill from Cahir has also consented to permanent injunctions preventing him for representing himself as the owner of the letters to an Irish priest – or copying them in any way.

Today's proceedings were part of a case taken by Sheppard auctioneers who had been due to sell the letters on behalf of All Hallows College- but they have since been withdrawn from auction.

Mr O’Neill had been present when the letters were disclosed to Sheppard’s and they had sought injunctions against the Tipperary man amid concerns he was behind the publication of copies printed in a US paper.

Today the Cahir man denied any unauthorised action and said the injunctions had been unnecessary. His legal team also confirmed to the court that all copies had been destroyed.
