Court appearance due in connection with county-wide thefts

A man in his 30's is due before Carrick District Court this afternoon in relation to a spate of thefts from the homes of elderly women around the county.

The 39 year old was arrested yesterday morning following a search of a rural location in South Tipperary.

A number of incidents have happened over the last few weeks in Thurles, Cashel, Clonmel and Kilsheelan where cash and personal belongings have been stolen.

The culprit has masqueraded as both an Irish Water official and as a plain-clothes Garda.
