Over 40 couples had paid a booking deposit to Aherlow House Hotel while a number of others had planned various functions there for the coming year.
However these are now up in the air as the hotel closed its doors last Tuesday.
More and more people have been coming forward over the past week expressing their concerns following the closure of the Aherlow House Hotel on Tuesday of last week.
Many of them had planned to hold their wedding reception in the hotel in the scenic Glen of Aherlow while others had planned various parties and events such as Communion celebrations.
However they are now trying to get answers as to where their deposits have gone and how they will secure their return.
Carol and her partner booked Aherlow House Hotel in February of last year and paid a deposit of €3,000 to hold their wedding reception there on February 26th.
They found out last week that the hotel had closed – they have been able to secure a new venue with the wedding now being held at the Anner Hotel in Thurles.
Carol says the General Manager at Aherlow House told her the receiver was responsible for the deposit.
However Carol says when she spoke to Grant Thornton a very different story emerged.
As well as weddings a number of other event were booked for Aherlow House over the coming year.
Connie paid a €350 deposit to Aherlow House Hotel last November for his daughter’s communion which is taking place in May.
However he too has been left trying to get both answers and the return of his deposit.
General Election candidate Séamie Morris says the receiver and the former operator of the hotel both have questions to answer.
He says Sinn Féin are prepared to hold a protest outside the hotel in a bid to secure the return of deposits.
Independent candidate Mattie McGrath claims the hotel has already been sold.
He says it’s now down to the new owners to honour the commitments made by the previous operators of the Aherlow House Hotel.
