Council refuse closure of Nenagh street in run up to Christmas

Tipperary County Council has refused permission for Gas Networks Ireland to close one of Nenagh's main streets in the run up to Christmas. 

The application to shut Stafford Street for almost a month, until 21st of December, is to allow the laying of the gas pipeline as part of the 20 million euro project.

Gas Networks Ireland wanted to close the street from the junction with Kenyon Street as far as Arrabawn Co-Op, however, the local authority denied permission citing the potential to severely impact on the Christmas shopping trade.
