Tipperary has received a share of 36,500 euro from the Arts Council, to incorporate dance into an ambitious healthcare programme.
The ‘Invitation to Collaboration’ scheme is in partnership with the local authorities, health professionals, communities and dance artists.
Dance in health care settings has been proven to particularly benefit older people or those with a chronic, degenerative conditions, such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease, and it’s hoped the scheme will work with the overall intention of providing a model that can be used nationally.
Both Kildare and Kerry County Councils have also benefited from funding under the scheme.
