A special blood donation clinic is taking place in Thurles today in a bid to secure vital supplies.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is reporting critically low levels of a number of blood types.
Clinics held at the Dome in Thurles last week were well attended but further donations are badly needed.
Alex O’Connor from the IBTS is encouraging new and existing donors to attend the clinic in the Dome at Semple Stadium which runs from 11.50am to 3.10pm:
To help meet the situation the blood transfusion service is holding an unscheduled clinic in Thurles. In this once-off service no appointments are necessary and walk-in donors are welcome. All blood types are needed but particularly O negative and B negative which have now reached critical levels. While we had an amazing attendance by Thurles donors this past week it is still extremely important that Sunday’s clinic is well attended.
