Concern expressed at Council merger process

The Mayor of North Tipperary has expressed concerns with the report being submitted to Minister Phil Hogan on the merging of North and South Tipp County Councils.

The report is to be sent to the Local Government Minister at the end of the month following which the process moves to the next phase.

However Councillor Míchael Lowry is unhappy that some key issues will not be resolved for quite some time yet.

Speaking on Tipp Today he said the timeframe for the amalgamation process did not leave much time for either candidates or the general public to get used to new electoral areas which are not likely to be known until next year.
