Gardai in Tipperary have again warned householders to be on the lookout for a con-man operating in the county.
The latest in a spate of such incidents happened in Thurles yesterday.
The man called to a number of homes in the town and gained access to one of them claiming to be a guard investigating a recent incident.
While in the house he stole a handbag containing a sum of money.
The man was wearing blue jeans and a black & red t-shirt.
Gardai say the culprit is clean shaven with sallow skin and brown hair – his age is estimated to be between 25 and 40 and of medium height.
This is the latest in a spate of incidents in the mid and south Tipp areas in recent weeks where conmen have targeted the homes of mostly elderly women.
It's not known if the incidents in Thurles, Cashel, Clonmel and Kilsheelan are linked.
In some cases the culprit claims to be from Irish Water and is checking taps and radiators while on other occasions he claims to be a Guard checking security in the house.
Gardai are advising householders that is a man fitting the description calls to their door not to let him in and to call their nearest Garda station.
