Mobile operators have increased their charges leading to a rise in costs for those running what many feel are a vital part of the battle against increasing crime levels in rural parts of the county.
Councillor Micheál Lowry raised the issue at this months meeting of Tipperary County Council calling on the Communications Minister to negotiate with the various mobile networks.

The independent representative says if Community Text Alert schemes were to fall by the wayside it would be a huge blow to rural areas.
