Alison Fogarty McCarthy is planning to walk 180 kilometres over the next week – it’s the distance between her home in Tipp Town and Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

That’s where she had her second kidney transplant a year ago after her first one was rejected.

Alison will clock up the mileage at various venues around Tipperary between now and the 12th but next Thursday will visit Beaumont Hospital to light a candle and then the Rock Of Cashel to light it up purple at sunset for the Irish Kidney Association.

She says she’s actually been planning this fundraiser for a long time but is only able for it now.
