Problems with accessing a cemetery in North Tipp have been raised with the County Council.

Independent representative Shane Lee says the issues at Timoney Graveyard need to be addressed.

The Roscrea Councillor says he has been raising local concerns for some time about the cemetery.

“People in that area – families – have been asking me. Access to the graveyard is a challenge for people of the location of it so I was calling on the Environment Section. I’ve been raising this for quite some time here in the chamber. I’m just asking for them to work more with me and with people that have loved ones in that graveyard to try and get proper access to the graveyard itself.”

Councillor Lee wants the local authority to clarify the access issues.

“Sometimes there has been a history of getting access – it was just a gentleman’s agreement that was between landowners. So it’s just getting around all of the loopholes and it’s just a common sense approach that would allow people to visit their loved ones in the graveyard.”
