Local sports clubs are being asked to step in and help to clear footpaths in towns across Tipp.

Many people have been forced to walk on the streets and roads as the paths are so slippery.

However Tipperary County Councillor Michael Brennan says the community spirit shown during the Covid pandemic should be an example this week.

“If you go back to when we had Covid first our local GAA clubs played a big part in getting shopping to people, calling in on neighbours and the whole lot.

“I would say to any GAA club in any town or community – if you’re not working today, come together lads. Ye were brilliant during Covid – get in and help those shopkeepers or get out and clean the footpaths in the community or the towns and give people a helping hand.

“The last thing we want to see is somebody falling or somebody not being able to go out and get something they badly need because of a footpath not being properly cleared.
