A Tipperary TD is calling for calm and dialogue after the arrival of women and children seeking International Protection to Dundrum House Hotel.

Sinn Fein’s Martin Browne is calling for the people of Tipperary to stand together and not take out their valid frustrations on vulnerable people who are fleeing traumatic situations.

Deputy Browne says the county has been let down by successive governments’ failure to deliver on housing, health and public services and that’s where locals should direct their anger.

It’s not definite that the will be used to house 277 asylum seekers.

But Martin Browne says the government has promised that it won’t be any more than the number of Ukrainians that stayed there after the Russian invasion.

He says there’s been no final decision on whether it’ll be fully changed over to an IPAS accommodation centre.
