It's after fresh revelations in the Sunday Times that a security sweep at GSOC was carried out after it emerged that a senior Garda appeared to have information about a case being investigated by them.
In a statement this afternoon, Martin Callinan says their surveillance equipment used by An Garda Siochana are subject to strict controls, and he's satisfied Gardai were not involved in any surveillance of GSOC or its members.
The Justice Minister has been accused of misleading the Dáil in terms of the information he was given about a public interest inquiry focused on An Garda Síochana which had been launched by GSOC.
Fianna Fail Justice spokesperson Niall Collins says Alan Shatter's handling of the matter is questionable.
