Closing date for Garda Youth Awards looming

They are aimed at honouring the contribution of 13 to 19 year olds to their local communities.

Chief Superintendent of the Tipperary Garda Division Catherine Keogh says it's a great opportunity to foster stronger relationships between the Gardaí and young people.

A judging panel, which includes former Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins, Una Foden of the Saturdays and Circuit Court Judge Gerard O'Brien will decide the winners. 

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in the Garda College in Templemore next month.

Inspector Eddie Golden says it's vital that people nominate those deserving of an award.
