Clonmel windfarm rejected by An Bord Pleanala

Ecopower Developments Ltd had sought permission eight turbines on a 51 hectare site in the Glenary – Russelstown area

Those opposed to the 127 metre high masts claimed they would be visible from Clonmel and a 20 kilometre radius.

When Waterford County Council refused planning permission the company took their case to the state planning appeals board who have backed the local authority decision.

Conor O'Brien of the Comeragh Windfarm Awareness Group was among those opposing the plans.

He says one of their concerns was the impact the development would have on the Glenary water supply.
