Clonmel man guilty of assaulting Garda

A Clonmel man has been found guilty of assaulting a Garda at a Halloween bonfire in the town.

Andrew Freaney of 22 Elm Park in Clonmel had denied the charge which related to an incident on October 31st 2008 in Bianconi Drive.

Garda Helena Power suffered a serious eye injury when 24 year old Freaney kicked her in the face.

He has been remanded in custody for sentencing following the 10 – 2 majority verdict at Clonmel Circuit Court.
