The statistics from the Court Services of Ireland show that overall banks have sought to repossess almost 4,500 homes nationwide this year including up to 40 across the South Tipp town during the first 6 months.
These numbers are in addition to the 7,000 plus dwellings around Ireland that lenders had already moved to repossess by January of 2015.
Independent TD Mattie McGrath says government measures to tackle this spiralling problem is failing and existing schemes such as mortgage to rent are non existent
He fears the orders will leave dozens of families homeless in a county already struggling to cope with the numbers on existing housing lists.
