Clonmel Christmas light funding unsustainable

The funding for Christmas lights in Clonmel town centre is being described as ‘unsustainable’.

Christmas lights in the town depend on voluntary funding from businesses in each street in the town.

With more and more businesses closing down and big name stores failing to contribute to the funding the Clonmel Town Centre Forum are struggling to pay for the lights.

They say that the lights in the town badly need to be upgraded to keep up with other towns in the county.

Tony Egan from Anne Fitzpatrick’s florists in Mitchell Street says people aren’t happy with the existing lights.
