It’s claimed the CCTV camera system in Thurles has been taken off line.
Mid Tipp Councillor John Hogan levelled the charge during a discussion on anti social behaviour at Tipperary County Council’s monthly meeting yesterday.
There’s been much speculation over the town’s closed circuit TV system in recent months with some local representatives claiming the crime prevention measure is outdated and needs to be replaced with more sophisticated equipment.
At the most recent Joint Policing Committee cllrs including Sinn Fein’s David Doran were given assurances by gardaí that the CCTV was working perfectly fine.
However Clr Hogan insists that’s not the case
