Thurles residents are getting access to a Registry office again.

It had been closed down due to staffing issues.

The Civil Registration Office will reopen on the 15th of May after a new Registrar was appointed by the HSE.

The services will be available initially on three days a week – on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays.

Tipperary TD Michael Lowry says the lack of a local office was a big problem for locals who had to travel whenever they needed the services.

They will now be able to use St Marys Health Centre to obtain birth, death and marriage certs.
