The 14 acre site was purchased by the local authority following the closure of the army base in 2012.

Among those relocating to the former barracks will be Clonmel Garda Station, the Tipperary Education and Training Board and L.I.T.

Local Fianna Fail representative and general election candidate Siobhán Ambrose says the plaza area will be a huge addition to Clonmel.
