Chernobyl children touch down in Ireland

Families from 13 counties around Ireland are today welcoming Chernobyl children into their homes, for their annual summer break.

145 children and young adults with special needs will arrive at Shannon Airport this afternoon from Belarus, the region most badly affected by the world’s worst nuclear disaster.

Chernobyl Children International founder and Tipperary woman Adi Roche says June is always a special time of year for the children and the volunteer families.
