Micheal Doyle of Cashel Road, Killenaule and his brother Tony Doyle of Riverside, Urlingford, Co Kilkenny were facing allegations that they had no authority to collect money on behalf of a charity when they were questioned by Gardaí in October 2013.
Nenagh District Court heard evidence that the two brothers were wearing Carrick-an-Suir River rescue jackets and had ID on them when they were questioned by gardaí on the 25th October 2013 at Ard Chuain in Roscrea.
It was alleged they were selling lines for a sponsored walk for the river rescue charity the following day.
Carrick River Rescue said the sponsored walk collection was bogus and the brothers had no authority to collect money door to door on their behalf for such a sponsored event.
The court was told that Micheal Doyle of Cashel Road, Killenaule and his brother Tony Doyle of Riverside, Urlingford, Co Kilkenny had the jackets, satchels and identification documentation from the charity as a result of an earlier pen selling fundraising project for the charity.
After hearing evidence from the case at Nenagh District Court, Judge Marie Keane dismissed the charges against both men on the grounds that they may have been prejudiced by a delay in serving them with summons in the case.
