Celebrations to mark anniversary of Presidential visit

A year ago today, the sleepy village of Moneygall on the Tipperary – Offaly border was catapulted onto the world stage when the US President and first lady paid a visit.

Barack and Michelle Obama famously sampled some Guinness while touring the ancestral home of the most powerful man in the world – on May 23rd 2011.

A mini festival has been planned for Moneygall today to mark the anniversary of the Obama visit – and celebrate the recent influx of tourists it led to.
