A collection of gold coins found in Carrick on Suir are to go on public display today.
Described as the best collection of gold coins to be found here since the 1940's, the 17th century collection will be unveiled at Collins Barracks museum in Dublin by Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan.
He will be joined by the five men who found the hoard while carrying out renovation work at a pub in Carrick-on-Suir.
Some of the 81 gold coins date from 1664, and they would have represented more than 6 years wages for a farm labourer at the time.
The National Museum has offered the coins on temporary loan to South Tipperary Museum in Clonmel for display there in the Autumn.
Discussions are also taking place with the OPW to have a display of the coins in Ormond Castle in Carrick for an open day in advance of the display in the County Museum.
