The Irish Cancer Society wants to know what people spend on treatment and how much income they lose while they are sick.
Over the last five years, the number of cancer patients who have asked the Irish Cancer Society for cash has increased by 82 percent.
Head of advocacy – Tipperary’s Kathleen O'Meara – outlines some of the big costs associated with the illness.
“Among the biggest costs that are facing cancer patients when they're diagnosed are the cost of travel, for instance, the cost of parking at a hospital, prescriptions, childcare – and household costs, like for instance, extra heating” she said.
“These are the kind of costs which are hitting every cancer patient – and many of them find that they are in financial trouble then as a result of their cancer diagnosis” she added.
