The local authority currently salts around 1,000 kilometres of roads every time there's an ice warning and this represents around 20% of the county's 5,500 kilometres of public roadways.
However, there's been some criticism that important, well-used routes are not being gritted leading to unsafe driving conditions.
Sinn Fein Thurles Councillor David Doran wants the road from Thurles out to Lisheen mines included in the treated road section.
While the Director of Services Marcus O'Connor agreed to look into adding the road to the list, he said that the local authority could not grit every road in the county.
At present, it costs around €700,000 a year to salt the main routes across the Premier County.
Marcus O'Connor says the local authority covers as much of the county as is possible with the resources that they have.
