The Department of Integration has been asked to pause any deal to turn Dundrum House into a full scale IPAS Accommodation Centre.
The local hotel has been used as Ukrainian accommodation for the past few years but most of them have since moved out and it’s already housing over 50 aslyum seekers.
The National Lead of the Departments Community Engagement team spoke at the monthly meeting of Tipperary County Council yesterday and confirmed the site has been offered as an IPAS centre and has passed an appraisal process and a contract is ready to be signed.
But local Cllr Mary Hanna Hourigan says the hotel is subject to two upcoming High Court cases – one where the ownership is being contested and another over alleged breaches of the planning regulations.
