Proposals to develop a Chinese cultural and education centre at Kickham Barracks in Clonmel are to be put before South Tipperary County Council for a second time.

Fine Gael's Joe Brennan tabled this motion at the February meeting of the local authority where Fianna Fail's Siobhan Ambrose was particularly opposed to such a move at that time.

She felt the plan was insensitive given that the Barracks had not even closed, saying the fight was not over to keep the Defence Forces in the town..

Following this weeks green light for a multi-million Euro Chinese Trade Hub in Athlone, Councillor Brennan today told Tipp FM News he hasn't given up on his idea for Kickham Barracks.
