Plans for the new Shannon Bridge crossing at the North Tipperary town remain on hold pending the outcome of a judicial review into the multi million Euro project.
If it gets the green light, it’s hoped the crossing along with a number of other measures will free up the town centres of Ballina and Killaloe which have been choked with traffic for many years.
Local Fine Gael Councillor Phyl Bugler feels that in the meantime a dedicated car park could help the situation.
However Director of the Nenagh Municipal District Marcus O'Connor says its not just up to the local authority as others need to play a role in this as well.
He says providing parking in the lanes off the Main Street would help – the council has been in negotiation with landowners in a bid to progress this.
