Any further cuts to teaching hours for special needs students would severely impact on families in Tipperary.

The matter was raised at this months meeting of South Tipp County Council by Councillor Richie Molloy who received cross party support for his call on the Education Minister to restore specialist teaching hours to pre-2010 levels.

There is speculation that these hours could be cut even further in the budget.

Councillor Molloy, who is manager of the Carers Association centre in Clonmel, says this could be the final straw for some families.
