Progress has been made on improving the Christmas lights display in Templemore.
There had been complaints from locals that the town was being let down compared to other urban areas in the region.
The Christmas Lights in Templemore – or specifically the lack of them – was raised by a number of local councillors at yesterdays meeting of the County Council following which a meeting was held with the District Manager.
Many locals and visitors to the town felt the display was very poor this year.
However Councillor John Hogan says while the councils Christmas lights might not be up to scratch local businesses had been doing their bit.
Cathaoirleach Joe Bourke also admits that the display in Templemore is poor this year.
Some progress has been made in recent days – the Town Hall will be lit up while the trees in front of the hotel on the Square will also be illuminated.
However Councillor Bourke says an issue with the ESB means there will be no Christmas lights across the Main Street.
John Hogan also highlighted the cost to power Christmas light displays across the county.
He says efforts need to be made to utilise more modern technology as much as possible.
