Under the Local Government reform plan, 'Putting People First', commercial rates are to be equalised across each county over the coming years where the urban areas rates will be altered to bring them in line.
However, the plan is coming in for criticism from some people who say it's not fair on a business in a rural part of the county to have to pay the same rates as one in the centre of town.

Independent Councillor and Chair of the Carrick on Suir Municipal District, Eddie O'Meara says the rates should be done as a percentage of turnover.
