Call for improved signage on the Suir in Carrick

There are calls for more warning signs to be put up on along dangerous stretches of the river in Carrick on Suir.

It’s following the tragic death of 24-year-old Stephen Hoare last week after he got in to difficulty while swimming.

Stephen, who was originally from Cashel, drowned in a stretch on the Suir that many locals would know was not safe for swimming.

Tipp Today listener Elaine says someone like Stephen who wouldn’t know the river well might have been more careful if the warning signs were there.
