Call for Council to engage with Coty workers

Tipperary County Council is being urged to meet directly with Coty staff who are set to lose their jobs with the closure of the Nenagh plant.

Local representatives are critical of the current “inter-agency group” approach as they feel it’s too broad and doesn’t deal solely with the expected fallout when the former Proctor and Gamble business shuts.

They are calling for a response group to be set up, similar to what the local authority in the UK did when Coty closed its manufacturing plant there.

Sinn Fein Councillor Seamie Morris thinks the current measures being taken are too broad

That’s a view echoed by Independent Councillor Hughie McGrath who would like the council to meet directly with the Coty staff.
