Busy time at Garda College as training resumes shortly.

100 trainees will enter the campus on September 8th to begin their two year course which is split into three phases.

The new programme focuses on Problem-Based Learning, a first for the college, where students will learn through practical experience instead of the training being instructor-led

Superintendent Pat McCabe from the Garda College says it will ease the changeover from college to life on the beat.

The move is also seen as a welcome boost for businesses in the town of Templemore.
