
University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded in the country today.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation the Dooradoyle Hospital – which serves North Tipperary – has 34 patients without a bed.
Meanwhile at South Tipp General there are 20 patients being cared for on trolleys in corridors around the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards.
The nursing union reports a total of 289 people waiting for a bed.
