Taoiseach says price fixing is being investigated

Leo Varadkar says yesterday’s raids on insurance companies are a sign that action is being taken to investigate price fixing.

However the Taoiseach has admitted that the Irish authorities did not initiate yesterday’s proceedings.

He’s told the Dail that the raids by EU officials were not linked to an inquiry which Ireland’s competition authorities are already running.

But he says the authority’s work, combined with the EU raids, shows insurers are being watched.
