Three Tipperary residents appear on the latest list of tax defaulters published by Revenue.
It covers the period from July 1st to September 30th this year and includes 36 cases where the Revenue Commissioners accepted settlements to a total value of €15 million.
The Revenue list for the 3rd quarter of 2024 includes company director Miriam Burke of Ashgrove House in Bansha. A Revenue Audit case uncovered an initial bill of €83,000 for under-declaration of Capital Acquisitions Tax – when interest and penalties were added her total settlement came to over €180,600
Hugh Sweeney – a company director – of Portnacasky, Black Road, Newport was found to have an under-deceleration of income tax to the tune of almost €100,500. Interest and penalties brought the total to almost €180,000.
Revenue found that Medical Practitioner Brendan Thornton of Garrynatineel, Ballina had a €217,000 under-declaration of income tax – when interest and penalties were added the overall settlement came to almost €348,000.
Nationally of the 36 cases listed the largest settlement came to €6.7 million for Dublin based property developers Vieira Limited which is now in liquidation.
