The CEO of County Tipperary Chamber of Commerce is pushing for urgent government support for businesses impacted by last week’s severe snow and ice.

85% of local businesses are said to have had closures and significant revenue losses, with many likely to need over a month to recover.

The Chamber is calling for financial grants, commercial rates relief and energy cost support.

Michelle Aylward says that some local businesses could face permanent closure as a result of the losses incurred last week.

She also says contingency plans need to be put in place to help prevent losses to businesses in Tipperary during future severe weather events.
