Over 200 of the party's faithful in Tipperary gathered at the Anner Hotel in Thurles where 10 candidates were chosen to contest seats across the county's slimmed down five constituency areas.
Deputy Party Leader Joan Burton addressed those gathered and insisted that their record in government would stand to them come May and insisted that Tipperary had seen a modest but definite improvement in employment levels.
Based on a continuous slump in the polls there's speculation that Labour could suffer huge losses in the local elections but this has been dismissed by local Party Chairman and Tipperary candidate Liam Hayes who says the spirit of Labour is alive and well in the county it was founded in.
